Neil J. Cobelli, MD, is a recognized expert in the field of orthopedic adult reconstructive surgery with a focus on adult hip and knee replacements. Dr. Cobelli has served as Chairman of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine since March of 2002 and is a Professor of Orthopedic Surgery. Under his leadership, the Department has developed a strong academic reputation and a nationally renowned laboratory research base at Einstein in addition to its extraordinary clinical presence. He has also developed one the most competitive residency programs in the country, attracting top medical school graduates for orthopedic training.

Dr. Cobelli received his Bachelor of Science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School. He completed his orthopedic surgery training at Einstein and Montefiore after a term of service in the U.S. Public Health Service. His primary research interest is the physiologic reaction to wear debris generated by joint replacements.
