Hnin Khine, MBBS, is an attending physician and Associate Professor, Pediatrics at Montefiore Einstein. Dr. Khine’s clinical focus is on determining the cause of emergent and urgent cases, with particular interest in infectious diseases and their trends.
After earning her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Adelaide in Adelaide, Australia in 1985, Dr. Khine completed her transitional internship in medicine, surgery & pediatrics at North Western General Hospital in Tasmania, Australia in 1987. She then moved to the United States to continue her medical training, completing her pediatric internship and residency at Montefiore Einstein in 1992, where she was Chief Resident in her final year. Following this, Dr. Khine completed a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in 1994.
Building on her clinical focus, Dr. Khine’s research focuses on infectious diseases and their trends, with a particular focus on sexually transmitted infections. Her work has been published in many peer-reviewed journals, books, chapters, review articles and letters, and she has given numerous national presentations and invited lectures. Dr. Khine has been Investigator on funded research projects and is a reviewer for Pediatric Emergency Care and Pediatrics.
Dr. Khine is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in Pediatrics and Pediatric Emergency Medicine. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Pediatric Association, the Eastern Society for Pediatric Research and the Society for Pediatric Research. Dr. Khine has won many awards for her work. In 2008, she was inducted into the Leo M. Davidoff Society for Outstanding Achievement in the Teaching of Medical Students. In 2013, she won the William Obrinsky Award for Excellence in Student Teaching from Montefiore’s Department of Pediatrics. In 2019, Dr. Khine won the Lewis M. Fraad Award for Excellence in Resident Teaching from the Department of Pediatrics at The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore. She also received the Teaching Star-Teaching Commendation Letter for the 2019 to 2020 Academic Year at Einstein.
