Asif M. Rahman, MD, is an attending psychiatrist at Montefiore Einstein and Assistant Professor, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His clinical areas of focus include bipolar and unipolar mood disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorders, schizophrenia spectrum disorders, trauma and stressor-related disorders, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorders, cluster B personality disorders and autism spectrum disorders.

After obtaining his Doctor of Medicine from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 2018, Dr. Rahman completed his residency in adult psychiatry at Nassau University Medical Center in 2021, where he was Chief Resident Physician for Academics and Research in his final year. Following this, Dr. Rahman completed a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in 2023.

Dr. Rahman’s primary research interests focus on the emerging pharmacologic and psychotherapeutic roles of psychedelics such as psilocybin and MDMA, as well as that of ketamine and esketamine in the management of treatment-resistant psychiatric disorders. He has shared his work through scientific publications and multiple presentations.

Dr. Rahman is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Adult Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the Society of Biological Psychiatry and the American Psychiatric Association. In 2018, Dr. Rahman received the Chair's Choice Award for Early Career Investigators from the Society of Biological Psychiatry. He is Fluent in English, Spanish and Bengali.
