Ronald Samuels, MD, MPH, is Associate Chief for Complex Care, General Pediatrics and Medical Director, LINCS Complex Care Program at Children's Hospital at Montefiore Einstein. Dr. Samuels’ clinical focus centers on improving the care of children with complex medical problems.
After earning his Bachelor of Science in biology from Harvard University in 1985, Dr. Samuels pursued his Doctor of Medicine at SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse, earning the degree in 1989. His post-graduate training began at NY Hospital, where he completed a residency in pediatrics in 1992. Following this, Dr. Samuels moved to Boston Children’s Hospital where he completed a three-year general pediatrics fellowship in 1995, concurrently with a one-year Dyson Advocacy fellowship in 1994, and a two-year Faculty Development fellowship in 1995. As part of his fellowship he also went back to Harvard University where he obtained his Masters of Public Health in 1995.
Dr. Samuels’ research focuses on improving access to care and, in particular, using immunization databases to identify children in need of vaccines and other services. He has shared his work through a multitude of peer-reviewed journals and abstracts and has given both national and international presentations.
Dr. Samuels is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). He has received numerous awards and honors, including the Primary Care Preceptor of the Year from Boston Children’s Hospital Primary Care Center in 2009, the CDC Childhood Immunization Champion Award for Mass from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in 2016, and has been recognized as Best of Boston Top Doctors (Pediatrics) by Boston Magazine for a number of years.
