Fredrick J. Matzner, MD, is Medical Director at the Wakefield Child and Adolescent Annex of Montefiore and Assistant Professor at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His clinical focus is on the development of program services for severely emotionally disturbed children and adolescents with social adversity.
In 1974, Dr. Matzner earned his Bachelor of Arts at the the University of Dallas. In 1980, he received his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. His psychiatry residency took place at New York Hospital Cornell Medical Center from 1980 to 1983. He then pursued a fellowship in child psychiatry at St. Luke’s/Roosevelt Hospital from 1983 to 1985, serving as chief resident in his final year.
Building on his clinical interests, Dr. Matzner’s research focuses primarily on multidisciplinary treatment of severe emotional disturbance in children and adolescents. His research findings have been published in several peer reviewed journals and presented at national meetings.
Dr. Matzner is board certified in Adult and Child Psychiatry, and is a member of several professional associations, including the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the New York Academy of Medicine and the American Psychiatric Association.
