About Our Emergency Medicine Research Fellowship
The Department of Emergency Medicine sponsors a two-year fellowship program in emergency medicine research, offering didactic training and practical experience in epidemiology, study design, biostatistics, data analysis, grant writing and research ethics.
In collaboration with our Department’s senior investigators, fellows are expected to design, execute, and complete a research study within two years, utilizing the extensive research resources available in the Emergency Department (ED). These include a dedicated team of trained research associates who provide near-round-the-clock coverage in the ED, access to a full-time methodologist for expert guidance on study design and data analysis, and close mentorship from nationally recognized faculty to support scholarly development and ensure the success of each fellow’s research project.
In addition to the ongoing guidance provided by senior faculty, all fellows have a dedicated mentor who collaborates with them to integrate the Clinical Research Training Program (CRTP) coursework with the practical aspects of conceptualizing, designing and managing a study in a busy, multicultural ED. The CRTP is a comprehensive program through the Albert Einstein College of Medicine that combines didactic learning and coursework with a mentored research experience, which culminates in a Master of Science (M.S.) in Clinical Research Methods.
