Ray Reagans serves on the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee at Montefiore Einstein Cancer Center.
A graduate of Brown University, Dr. Reagans holds a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and economics from the institution and a Doctor of Philosophy in sociology from the University of Chicago.
Dr. Reagans’ research explores many interrelated questions on demographic characteristics and social networks. It examines how age, gender, race and other demographic characteristics affect the formation of interpersonal relationships. It investigates the impact of demographic diversity on a team’s social capital, and how this can affects a team’s performance and general capacity for learning. It also looks at how an individual’s social network affects his or her ability to share knowledge. More recently, Dr. Reagans has researched the relationship between organizational climate and culture and the retention and performance of women and racial minorities. He has shared his research through peer-reviewed journals, book chapters and conferences.
