Bahar Laderian, MD, is Director of the Neuroendocrine Tumors Program at Montefiore Einstein Comprehensive Cancer Center and Assistant Professor of Medicine and Oncology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Laderian’s clinical focus is on the treatment of neuroendocrine tumors (carcinoid), adrenocortical carcinoma and carcinomas, pheochromocytomas, paragangliomas, and gastrointestinal cancers including anal cancers, colorectal cancers, cancer of the appendix, intestinal cancers, anal cancers, pancreatic cancers, hepatocellular carcinomas, cholangiocarcinomas and gastroesophageal cancers.
Dr. Laderian completed her Doctor of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh and her internal medicine residency at the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Hospital. She completed her hematology/oncology fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center-New York Presbyterian hospital.
With respect to her clinical research interests, Dr. Laderian is focused on developing novel treatments for neuroendocrine neoplasms, pheochromocytomas, paragangliomas, and gastrointestinal cancers. She collaborates with basic scientists to uncover novel genomic alterations in minorities, with the goal of identifying new biomarkers that can indicate individuals at a higher risk of more serious and fatal side effects from cancer-related treatments. She is also interested in determining whether there are racial disparities between Caucasian and minority patients concerning clinical outcomes and response to treatment in rare cancers. Her research also involves using human population genetics to explore the influence of genetics on health outcomes. Dr. Laderian is the lead author and co-author of several publications in peer-reviewed, cancer-focused journals as well as the Journal of Internal Medicine. She has presented her research at several national and international meetings. She is also an Editorial Board Member at OncoDaily.com.
Dr. Laderian is board certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology. In 2019, she received the American Society of Clinical Oncology Conquer Cancer Foundation-Young Investigator Award. She also served as the youngest member of the committee at the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) for the Neuroendocrine Tumor Panel from 2022-2024.
