Pedro Salomao Piccinini, MD, is an attending physician at Montefiore Einstein and Assistant Professor, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Piccinini brings an international perspective to aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery, integrating American and Brazilian plastic surgery practices. He has a special focus on endoscopic approaches to facial aesthetic and reconstructive surgery, minimizing visible incisions, as well as improving the facial profile through deep plane face and neck lifts, rhinoplasty, bone contouring and fat grafting to the face, body and breast.
After earning his Doctor of Medicine from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in Porto Alegre, Brazil, in 2009, Dr. Piccinini underwent general surgery residency training at the University of Texas Health Science Center in 2014. He then completed his plastic and reconstructive surgery clinical and research fellowship at the Hospital São Lucas of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS) and the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery in Porto Alegre in 2016. Dr. Piccinini remained here to complete his plastic and reconstructive surgery fellowship in 2019. He then moved to the United States to continue his medical training, completing a craniofacial plastic surgery fellowship at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital (Miami Children’s Hospital) in 2021, followed by a microvascular reconstructive surgery fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania in 2023.
Dr. Piccinini’s research focuses on regenerative fat grafting, the effects of neck lift surgery on sleep apnea, breast implant stabilization for reconstructive and cosmetic purposes, postoperative wound healing and the use of virtual surgical planning for complex facial reconstruction in children and adults. He has co-authored multiple book chapters on facial rejuvenation, craniofacial surgery and body contouring, and his work has been published in prestigious plastic surgery journals, including Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the Aesthetic Surgery Journal. He has also presented at national and international medical conferences and is an Associate Editor for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Global Open, as well as a reviewer for the Aesthetic Surgery Journal, Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and Gland Surgery, among others.
Dr. Piccinini is board certified by the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery and the Brazilian Medical Association. He is a fellow member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the American Society of Craniofacial Surgery. He is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.
