Hector Perez, MD, is an attending physician at Montefiore Einstein, and Associate Professor at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Perez’s clinical focus is on primary care.
In 2002, Dr. Perez received his Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University. He then pursued his medical education, attending Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and earning his Doctor of Medicine in 2010. For his postgraduate training, he completed his residency in primary care social internal medicine at Montefiore, followed by a two-year fellowship in primary care research at New York University School of Medicine.
Dr. Perez’s research focuses on improving health outcomes in patients with opioid use and chronic pain. He has shared his work through peer-reviewed publications, abstracts and invited presentations. He is also a peer reviewer for several medical journals, including Annals of Internal Medicine, Journal of Pain, and Journal of Substance Abuse Treatment, among others.
Dr. Perez is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the Society of General Internal Medicine, the Association for Medication Education and Research in Substance Abuse and the National Hispanic Medical Association, among others. In addition, Dr. Perez is also Lead of the Bronx-Community HIV AMbassadors Program (Bronx-CHAMP), a pathway program for high school, college and graduate students to promote interest in HIV science.
