As Chief of Adult Reconstruction at Montefiore, Sun Jin Kim, MD, specializes in adult reconstruction, primary and revision hip and knee replacements, nonoperative management of hip and knee arthritis. He is well versed in patient-specific technology, minimally invasive approaches, and blood-conserving surgical options. He also serves as an Assistant Professor at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Dr. Kim received his medical degree from the prestigious Honors Program in Medical Education at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago. Following his orthopedic residency, also at Northwestern University, he participated in the Adult Reconstruction Fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, where he received the Philip D. Wilson Award for Outstanding Fellowship Research.

He holds memberships in the Eastern Orthopedic Association, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS), the American Medical Association (AMA), the Korean American Medical Association, and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS). A respected expert in his field, his work is widely published.

In addition to his Philip D. Wilson Award, Dr. Kim has earned the Attending Physician of the Year Award (2007 and 2011), the Patients' Choice Award (2008 through 2011) and Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2010 and 2011). Dr. Kim is fluent in both Korean and Spanish.
