Matthew Lee, MD, MPH, is an attending physician at Montefiore Einstein and Assistant Professor, Medical Oncology at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He is also currently the appointed Director, Inpatient Medical Oncology at Weiler-Einstein Hospital. Dr. Lee has a clinical focus on Thoracic oncology.

Dr. Lee earned his Doctor of Medicine and Master of Public Health in epidemiology from the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in 2017. Following this, he completed his Internal Medicine Internship and Residency at Northwell North Shore University and Long Island Jewish Medical Center in 2020. He then completed a Hematology-Oncology Fellowship at Montefiore Einstein in 2023.

Building on his clinical focus, Dr. Lee’s research involves the development of early-phase clinical trials in lung cancer patients, evaluating immunotherapy duration, racial and ethnic disparities in the use of immunotherapy and targeted agents in lung cancer patients, small cell lung cancer, exploring new novel biomarkers and utilization of ctDNA. He is currently a Principal Investigator on several research projects and his work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and other scientific publications including JNCCN, Cancer Cell, Clinical Lung Cancer and American Journal of Hematology along with book chapters and presentations and abstracts at the World Conference of Lung Cancer, the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the American Society of Hematology (ASH). He is also pursuing interests in quality improvement initiatives in the hospital system.

Dr. Lee is a member of the ASCO and the ASH.
