Shahab Motamedinia, PhD, is Attending Psychologist at the Adult Outpatient Psychiatry Department at Montefiore and an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His clinical interests focus on using an integrative relational psychodynamic approach for the treatment of adults with anxiety, depression, interpersonal conflict, and conflicts surrounding periods of transition. He also enjoys mentoring psychiatry residents and psychology interns in process-oriented psychotherapy techniques.
Dr. Motamedinia earned his Bachelor of Arts in psychology at University of California, Irvine, in 2006. He then went to Long Island University, earning his Master of Arts in clinical psychology in 2009, and his Doctor of Philosophy in clinical psychology in 2015. He began his postgraduate training at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center as a clinical psychology intern from 2014 to 2015. He completed his postdoctoral fellowship at Columbia University Counseling and Psychological Services in 2016.
