Huai Ming Phen , MBBS, is Residency Wellness Officer at Montefiore Einstein and Assistant Professor, Orthopaedic Trauma at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Phen specializes in orthopedic trauma surgery, which focuses on caring for patients with any type of fracture or sprain involving the pelvis, arms and legs. Dr. Phen also addresses problems that may occur following fracture surgery, such as non-union, deformity and infection.
After earning his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at St. Bartholomew’s and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry in London, England in 2016, Dr. Phen completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Emory University School of Medicine in 2022. He then completed a clinical fellowship in orthopaedic traumatology at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, NYC Health and Hospitals - Jacobi Medical Center, Westchester Medical Center and Hospital for Special Surgery.
Dr. Phen’s research focuses on the biomechanical advantages of implants for different fractures and the applications of artificial intelligence within fracture care. His work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and he has given many national and international presentations. He has also been a reviewer for Archives of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery and the Montefiore Journal of Musculoskeletal Medicine and Surgery.
Dr. Phen is Co-founder of the St. Bartholomew and the London United States Medical Licensure Examination Society. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Orthopaedic Trauma Association.
