Adilia Hormigo, MD, PhD, is Leader, Neuro-Oncology Program, Co-Leader, Neuro-Oncology Multidisciplinary Disease Team and Professor, Hematology-Oncology, Neurosurgery, and Microbiology & Immunology at Montefiore Einstein. She is also a member of the Cancer Therapeutics Program. Her clinical expertise is the treatment of malignancies of the central nervous system and neurologic complications of cancer.

Dr. Hormigo earned her Doctor of Medicine with honors from the University of Lisbon and her Doctor of Philosophy from New York University. She pursued a residency in neurology at New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell University/Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. She also completed research and clinical neuro-oncology fellowships at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. In addition, she held faculty positions at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer jointly with Cornell University and at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where she served as Director of Neuro-Oncology and founded the Neuro-Oncology Fellowship Program.

Dr. Hormigo’s translational research focuses on new strategies in cancer immunology, including personalized treatment for patients with malignant brain tumors, understanding and overcoming the tumor microenvironment resistance to treatment and defining biomarkers of treatment response. She has been a primary investigator on innovative clinical trials. Her work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Hormigo is board certified in neurology and certified in neuro-oncology. She is a fellow of the American Neurological Association and a member of many professional societies, including the Society for Neuro-Oncology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Association for Cancer Research and the Society for the Immunotherapy of Cancer. In addition, she has received numerous awards and honors, including Excellence in Teaching the Neurology Clerkship at Cornell University and the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center Society and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Brain Tumor Center awards. She also received recognition as a CRI -V Foundation Clinic and Laboratory Integration Program (CLIP) Investigator.
