Neelja Kumar, MD, earned her medical degree at Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education with Stonybrook Medical Center, New York. She completed her clinical fellowship in Nephrology at Yale School of Medicine, New Haven Connecticut. Dr. Kumar completed her residency in internal medicine at New York University Langone Medical Center and then went on to complete an additional year as chief resident. Dr. Kumar is a board-certified nephrologist and has been part of the faculty at Montefiore since 2014. Dr. Kumar serves as Medical Director at an outpatient dialysis unit in the Bronx. Additionally, Dr. Kumar is an Associate Program Director for the nephrology fellowship program and has worked to enrich the academic curriculum for the clinical fellows. Her clinical interests within nephrology including renal disease in the critically ill population and renal disease in women, specifically during pregnancy.
