Cosman Camilo Mandujano, MD, is a general and critical care surgeon and Assistant Professor, Surgery at Montefiore Einstein. Dr. Mandujano provides surgical care for various diseases, including biliary pathology, colorectal and gastrointestinal diseases, hernia, abdominal wall surgery and surgical critical care. His clinical focus is on minimally invasive approaches for simple and complex general surgery, including laparoscopic and robotic surgery.

After earning his Bachelor degree in 2005 at Academia Americana in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, Dr. Mandujano pursued his medical degree at Universidad Latina de Costa Rica in San José, Costa Rica, earning his Doctor of Medicine in 2012. Dr. Mandujano came to the United States for his postdoctoral training, beginning with his clinical research fellowship in plastic and reconstructive surgery at MD Anderson Cancer Center from 2013 to 2014. He then completed a two-year general surgery residency at Yale University School of Medicine in 2017, followed by a four-year general surgery residency at Montefiore in 2021, acting as Chief Resident for Surgical Education in his final year. He continued his postdoctoral training at Rutgers University, completing a trauma and surgical critical care fellowship at Rutgers University in 2021.

Dr. Mandujano’s research focuses on outcomes research and quality improvement measures in abdominal wall reconstruction and hernia surgery. He is particularly interested in clinical outcomes and safety metrics for innovative minimally invasive approaches in abdominal wall surgery and quality improvement measures in surgical critical care. He has shared his research through publication in peer-reviewed journals, oral presentations and poster presentations.

Dr. Mandujano is board certified by the American Board of Surgery, and is a member of several professional associations including the American College of Surgeons, the American and European Hernia Societies, The Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons. In 2018, 2019 and 2021, he received the Leo M. Davidoff Society award in recognition of his excellent teaching of medical students.
