A Culture of Continuous Learning

Ongoing professional development is woven into the fabric of our nursing culture. Whether through structured education, peer mentorship or interdisciplinary collaboration, we support lifelong learning as a core pillar of nursing excellence.

Our Nursing Learning and Scholarship team supports nurses throughout their professional journey, offering robust programming that enhances clinical skill, fosters confidence and drives retention. From onboarding to advanced professional development, we provide tools to ensure nurses succeed at every level.

Educators also provide unit-specific instruction in high-acuity areas such as emergency care, intensive care, perioperative services and obstetrics, assuring that nurses are prepared to meet the demands of their unique clinical environments.

Our learning and development opportunities include:

  • Continuing education courses available through e-learning and live events, with contact hours awarded
  • Leadership development seminars that expand executive-level competencies, designed and conducted by the Department of Nursing Education
  • Mentorship and coaching programs to support growth in clinical and managerial roles
  • Skills-based workshops focused on communication, critical thinking, problem-solving and delegation

Professional Governance That Guides Lifelong Growth

Our Professional Governance Councils ensure nurses actively shape practice standards that improve patient care across our health system. These Councils advance education by promoting clinical research participation, scholarly projects, mentorship and peer-led initiatives that drive innovation.

The Councils support lifelong learning through educational opportunities, including seminars, mentorship programs, training sessions and nurse participation in clinical research. Through our professional governance model, Montefiore Einstein fosters an environment where nurses are empowered to lead, innovate and grow while contributing to the advancement of nursing science.

ANCC-Accredited Residency Program

Montefiore Einstein’s six month Nurse Residency Program transforms newly licensed nurses into confident, competent professionals. Accredited by the ANCC Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP), the Residency blends hands-on clinical experience with targeted education to reinforce foundational skills, sharpen critical thinking and build lasting professional confidence.

The Program integrates specialty-specific training, simulation and interdisciplinary collaboration. All newly licensed nurses with less than one year of experience are automatically enrolled, ensuring consistent preparation across specialties, including medical-surgical, pediatrics, emergency, critical care and perioperative nursing.

The curriculum focuses on seven core domains: communication, quality and safety, wellness and self-care, evidence-based practice, collaborative practice, ethical nursing and leadership. Upon graduation, residents are paired with experienced mentors who continue to guide their professional growth and career advancement.
