National Institute of Health GRANTS $5.3 Million for CHAM Research
Judy Aschner, MD, Physician-in-Chief, CHAM, and Professor, Pediatrics, Michael I. Cohen, MD University Chair, Albert Einstein College of Medicine has been awarded a $5.3 million grant from the National Institutes of Health. Pregnant Women with Severe Migraines May Be at Increased Risk for Labor and Delivery Complications
New study reveals possible link to preterm delivery, preeclampsia and low birthweight, particularly for women over 35. Women who have acute migraine attacks that are severe enough to prompt them to seek care may be more likely to have complications when giving birth, including preterm delivery, preeclampsia and low birthweight. Women 35 and older were seven times more likely to have these complications. Read More.

Paying Attention to Toy Safety Labeling and Developmental Guidelines
Despite tight government regulation, more than 200,000 visits are made annually to U.S. emergency departments for toy-related injuries. With the holiday season approaching, researchers from CHAM examined how toys are tested and labeled for safety concerns in a State-of-the-Art Review Article in the current issue of Pediatrics, with the goal of educating pediatricians and encouraging toy safety discussions with parents.
