Improved Nanoparticle Delivery — Dr. Matthew Levy and a team of researchers have developed a novel method to control stability of nanoparticles that could greatly improve drug delivery for those on therapeutic regimens. Their findings, published in the Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS), show for the first time that the addition of short single-stranded RNA molecules to nanoparticles can enhance both stability and cargo release. Their work represents a new approach for designing programmable nanoparticles. The research received additional recognition as a "spotlight" in JACS and was featured as a cover image for a subsequent issue of the journal. Dr. Levy is associate professor of biochemistry. The lead author on the paper, Samantha Wilner, is a fifth-year graduate student in the department.
