Matthew N. Bartels, MD, MPHProfessor and Chairman of Rehabilitation Medicine Professor and Chairman of Rehabilitation MedicineDr. Bartels became the Chairman of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in September 2013, Dr. Bartels directed Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation and the Human Performance Laboratory at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, where he has served as director of cardiopulmonary rehabilitation and founder and director of the Human Performance Laboratory.

Mark A. Thomas, MDResidency Program Director, Montefiore Medical Center Associate Professor of Clinical Rehabilitation Medicine, Albert Einstein College of Medicine Dr. Thomas has served as the Associate Chairman and Program Director for the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department (PMR) and training program since 1994. He became the Interim Chairman of the Department at Montefiore in 2011. He is an Associate Professor of Clinical Rehabilitation Medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His particular areas of interest include Medical Education, Geriatric Rehabilitation, Arts Medicine and Ergonomics. Dr. Thomas has a strong commitment to the expansion of the Department and development of subspecialty expertise to meet PMR-related patient care needs in the Bronx. He is equally committed to the education and professional development of the PMR residents training at Montefiore. Areas of Expertise

Stanley F. Wainapel, MD, MPHClinical Director Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Montefiore Medical Center Professor of Clinical Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, The Arthur S. Abramson Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Albert Einstein College of Medicine Dr. Wainapel is a nationally recognized pioneer in this area. Dr. Wainapel’s primary areas of clinical and research interest are complementary/alternative medicine (CAM), physical disability among physicians and medical students, medical problems in musicians, ethical aspects of rehabilitation research and disability in the novels of Charles Dickens. Abramson Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine (General Internal Medicine), Albert Einstein College of Medicine Dr. Prince is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He received his medical training from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and Montefiore Medical Center. He received a B.A. in Biology cum laude from Yeshiva University in New York City. Dr. Prince is currently investigating the link between depression and cardiac disease, the effects of exercise in restoring the heath of patients suffering from congestive heart failure, the role of nutrition in weight loss, and ideal nutritional states during medically-supervised exercise.
