Empowering Historically Underrepresented Groups

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are core values of Montefiore Einstein. Our long history of building and supporting a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment dates back to our beginnings when we became a non-sectarian hospital and provided care regardless of religious beliefs. We hired our first Black and female house staff members in the early 1900s when interracial hiring and gender diversity were rare. In the 1990s, Montefiore was the largest employer in the nation to provide equitable same-sex benefits for LGBTQ+ employees and their partners. And today, we are a Healthcare Equality Leader, recognized by the Human Rights Campaign for our commitment to equitable healthcare for the LGBTQ+ community.

Montefiore is committed to actively creating a healthcare environment that our associates want to be part of, patients want to seek care in, and other healthcare providers want to emulate.

Decades of Inclusivity in Medical Education

Albert Einstein College of Medicine's Office of Diversity and Inclusion, furthers our legacy of equity and endeavors to be a safe, inclusive, and just institution of medicine, science, and education. We strive to attract, support, and promote people and voices from historically marginalized groups, actively counter exclusionary and oppressive systems, as we pursue responsive science and health equity.

As a longtime member of the faculty, I know that Einstein is a special place, one committed to ensuring everyone is respected and supported. With our office expanding, we will continue to innovate and grow our offerings for students, trainees, faculty, employees and community members.
