Dr. Smith's areas of expertise include Head and Neck Cancer Surgery, Robotic Head and Neck Surgery, Thyroid and Parathyroid Surgery, Salivary Gland Surgery, Minimally Invasive Head and Neck Surgery. His research focus is on identifying genetic and biologic aspects of head and neck cancer which correlate with a patient’s prognosis, the goal of which is to help determine the optimal treatment for an individual patient to maximize their chance of cure and minimize treatment related side effects.

John P. Bent, MD

Attending Physician, Department of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Montefiore, Assistant Professor, Albert Einstein College of Medicine

Dr. Bent specializes in all aspects of pediatric otolaryngology with a particular interest in minimally invasive surgery and airway reconstruction. Dr. Bent obtained his undergraduate degree at Duke University and his medical education at Wake Forest University, and then completed his otolaryngology residency at the Medical College of Georgia (MCG). He obtained pediatric otolaryngology fellowship training at the University of Iowa and later returned to MCG, where he directed the Division of Pediatric Otolaryngology from 1995-98. In 1998, he joined a pediatric otolaryngology private practice in Manhattan, while continuing academics part-time at Cornell, NYU and Beth Israel Medical Center. In 2005, he accepted a full-time appointment to the faculty of Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he practices at The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore.

Rebecca E. Fraioli, MD

Dr. Fraioli has a particular interest in reconstructive rhinoplasty, with a dual goal of restoring a functional nasal airway and improving the aesthetic appearance of the nose. Other areas of interest include facial reconstruction after Mohs surgery or following ablative surgery for cancer, facial nerve disorders including facial nerve reanimation, and correction of prominent ears in children and adults (Otoplasty). Dr. Fraioli also performs cosmetic surgery and in-office Botox®, Restylane®, and Juvederm® treatments.
