Four Studies Explore Women's Brain and Heart Health During Midlife

Neurology professor, Dr. Carol Derby, led research in the National Institutes of Health-supported Study of Women's Health Across the Nation (SWAN) that found heart disease risk factors, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and belly fat, were associated with declines in cognitive processing speed during midlife. Dr. Derby is principal investigator of the Einstein site of the SWAN study, which is underway at seven clinical centers across the United States.
