Our Commitment to Diversity
As Bronx County’s largest employer and healthcare provider—from patient and home care to community programs and beyond—Montefiore Einstein is dedicated to advancing the health of one of the nation’s most diverse immigrant populations. Our expanded Supplier Diversity Program and Buy Local Initiative encourage the growth of diverse and local businesses through meaningful and sustainable partnerships in addition to reimagining procurement processes that promote a more equitable onboarding process for qualified vendors.
Are You a Diverse Supplier?
At Montefiore Einstein, we believe our supplier base should reflect the same level of diversity of our communities.
If your business is at least 51% owned and operated by an individual or group that is part of a historically underserved group, you qualify as a Diverse Supplier.
Our Supplier Diversity Program supports all historically underrepresented businesses including—but not limited to—minorities, women, LGBTQ, veterans, and disability-owned businesses, both big and small.

The Initiative
With full support from Procurement, the Community Relations Office plans to expand Montefiore Einstein’s deep commitment to diversifying our workforce and vendors by positively contributing to the economic health of our communities. The redefined Supplier Diversity Program and Buy Local Initiatives will allow us to increase our engagement with Diverse Businesses that will broaden the pool of supplier experience, capabilities and innovations. The program will focus on three priorities to reach our goals:
1. Reimagining Procurement Processes
We are continually optimizing our core processes to take diverse and local suppliers into account. We relentlessly seek to refine our procurement policies to strengthen our dedication to providing more opportunities for qualified Diverse Suppliers by connecting them to appropriate decision-makers within our organizations and mentors with our national partners.
2. Building Connections
We aim to build sustainable partnerships with Diverse Businesses, advocacy organizations and diversity caucuses through outreach programs.
3. Investing in Our Future
We are dedicated to enabling Diverse Suppliers to confidently meet the organization’s requirements through mentorship referrals.
Montefiore Einstein’s Business Mentorship Program (MBMP) will provide support services for local merchants interested in doing business with Montefiore Einstein.
The MBMP will be spearheaded by the Mosholu Preservation Corporation (MPC), a local support corporation for Montefiore Health System. MPC has a long history of leading community and economic development initiatives, supporting small businesses in the Bronx and provides a myriad of services for businesses in need.
Montefiore Einstein will meet businesses where they are and provide technical assistance to help them achieve their goals. The MBMP will onboard new vendors and assist with applications for requests for proposals from Montefiore Einstein departments. Additionally, our program will provide services or referrals to trusted partner organizations with experience in capacity building, such as: financial planning, legal assistance, MWBE certification and other services. Interested businesses can meet one-on-one with a business support specialist who will assess their needs and either handle in house, or make a referral.
Supplier Certification
