The Dr. Robin Goldman Memorial Lectureship Fund
In Memory of Robin Goldman, MD
Robin Goldman, MD, a general pediatrician and medical educator, dedicated her entire professional career to patients, trainees, and students at Montefiore and Einstein.
Dr. Goldman joined Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1982 as a pediatric resident. In 1986 she was recruited to the faculty of Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and in 1998 joined the Department of Pediatrics at Montefiore, practicing at Montefiore’s Comprehensive Family Care Center until 2016. In the course of Dr. Goldman’s career, she provided direct care to thousands of children and families from the Bronx, many of whom had challenging medical problems.
Over the past three decades, Dr. Goldman directly mentored over 70 pediatric resident trainees and educated countless medical students, staying in touch with many of her trainees long after they graduated or left the institution. She also dedicated herself to the curriculum of Albert Einstein College of Medicine, teaching two courses that helped medical students develop their clinical and professional skills, with a focus on listening, communication, ethics, wellness, and humanism. Dr. Goldman was well-known for her superb skills as a pediatrician and as a medical educator; she had an exceptionally focused commitment to her patients and to her trainees.
Dr. Goldman left a legacy of excellence, humanism, insight, and caring for the entire Montefiore-Einstein community.
The Dr. Robin Goldman Memorial Lectureship Fund
In memory of Dr. Robin Goldman, the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore is pleased to establish an annual named lectureship for the Department of Pediatrics. This event will emphasize Dr. Goldman’s significant contribution to the field of pediatrics and her commitment to education and mentorship. It will pay tribute to her 30 year career at Montefiore and Einstein, highlighting the impact she had on countless patients, families, students, residents, and colleagues.
Pediatric Grand Rounds are a core component of medical education in the department; the weekly lectures are attended by medical students, residents, fellows, physicians, researchers, and other clinicians. The Dr. Robin Goldman Memorial Lectureship would sponsor a visit by an outstanding physician-scholar who has achieved national recognition for their work in pediatrics, medical education, or humanism in medicine. The lecture would be followed by a mentoring activity for students, residents, fellows, and faculty with the goal of providing training and skills in an area that Dr. Goldman valued.
The memorial lectureship fund will provide for the speaker’s travel fees and honorarium (up to $5,000/year).
Our goal is to honor Dr. Goldman's memory with many, many years of ongoing education in the Department of Pediatrics through this lectureship series. Thank you for your thoughts and consideration in memory of our colleague and dear friend Robin.
