Translating Science Into Saving Lives
Montefiore Einstein’s hematological malignancies team specializes in the most advanced and novel therapies available today. We have expertise across the entire spectrum of blood cancers including Stem cell transplants and other cell based treatments such as CAR-T cell therapy.
As an Approved Center of Excellence for Cancer, our world-renowned oncologists and multidisciplinary specialists have treated patients with leukemia, lymphomas, myeloma and other blood cancers. We understand the challenges each patient faces at the time of diagnosis, at relapse, or after standard therapies at other hospitals have been exhausted.
We are also an Approved Center of Excellence for CAR-T therapy. This cell therapy uses the patient’s own cells to attack the tumor. Our experts have performed numerous CAR-T therapies in patients with lymphoma and myeloma with very high success rates.
World Renowned Multidisciplinary Specialists
Our fully integrated team of medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, bone marrow transplantation physicians and coordinators, hematologists, epigeneticists, and immunologists, along with an array of trained clinical experts, is devoted to the management of all types of cancers of the blood, bone marrow and lymph system. We work together as a team to deliver compassionate, science-driven care where, when and how patients need it most.
Our center is one of only 71 in the United States that’s been officially designated by the National Cancer Institute. (NCI). NCI provides funding for some of the largest clinical studies in the nation. Which is why our Center is home to an especially large research team that’s entirely dedicated to the care of patients enrolled in clinical trials. Our team of physicians, scientists and clinicians have been involved in the development of many of the latest new therapies in blood cancers. (Insert link to research page.)
Comprehensive Care Unlike Any Other
For each patient, our team develops a personalized treatment plan designed to achieve the best results. An individual care plan could range from precision formulated medication based on the patient’s genomic test results to psychosocial support, nutritional guidance and alternative therapies such as yoga and stress management. Our focus is on treating the whole patient. It’s an approach proven to achieve better outcomes. It can also improve our patients’ quality of life both during and after treatment.
The team closely monitors the progress of their patient’s treatment to allow for rapid adjustments as needed. Every one of our patients meets with his or her entire team during the initial visit to gain a full understanding of the diagnosis and treatment recommendations. Our Tumor Board meets with our patients’ physicians weekly, to discuss the patient’s condition to ensure delivery of the most effective treatment plan possible.
