The removal of a breast for cancer treatment can have significant physical and emotional impacts. All insurance providers, including Medicare and Medicaid, cover breast reconstruction after cancer surgery. The surgery may be performed at the time of or after the mastectomy or lumpectomy using implants or your own tissue. Please see our breast surgery page for more details on breast reconstruction.

After the removal of an extremity due to cancer or trauma, reconstructive surgery may be required to improve function, mobility, appearance and quality of life.

Head and neck cancers can involve critical structures associated with speaking, swallowing and appearance, such as the tongue, upper and lower jawbones, nose, larynx (voice box), salivary glands and skin of the face and neck. When part or all of these important structures are removed, it may result in difficulty speaking and swallowing and disfigurement.

The goal of reconstruction after head and neck cancer surgery is to restore your appearance and function to their original state as much as possible. Working closely with our Head & Neck team, we take a multidisciplinary approach to provide comprehensive, personalized care.

Children who have craniofacial anomalies or abnormalities may experience developmental and functional impacts. Surgery can minimize these impacts by improving appearance and functionality through reconstruction of bone and tissue. We treat a broad range of conditions, including:

We offer expert orthopedic, plastic, neurological and vascular surgery to treat hand conditions, including trauma, and we excel at the intricate surgery involved in reattaching a severed hand. We were the first Emergency Medical Services (EMS)-designated replant center in the Northeast and the first to perform microsurgery in this area, including delicate peripheral nerve surgery.

After undergoing bariatric surgery and achieving a stable long-term weight, some patients are candidates for body contouring (including excess skin removal) of the breasts, abdomen, arms and thighs.
