Matthias Eikermann, MD, PhD

Dr. Eikermann is an internationally recognized clinician scientist with expertise in Anesthesiology, Critical Care Medicine, and Digital Health Research. As an expert in the field of Perioperative Medicine, Dr. Eikermann has held leadership positions at Montefiore Einstein, Massachusetts General Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and Essen-Duisburg University. His innovative research focuses on severe postoperative complications such as stroke, myocardial infarction, and respiratory failure leading to the loss of independent living after hospital discharge. His work examining sedation practices for critically ill patients, as well as the impact of neuromuscular blocking agents has been widely published in the best peer-reviewed journals. As the head of the Anesthesiology Digital Health Research Laboratory at Montefiore Einstein, Dr. Eikermann leads a team conducting numerous projects utilizing highly granular, pharmacophysiological patient data to improve clinical operations and optimize patient outcomes.
