Ari Moskowitz, M.D., M.P.H., associate professor of medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, has received a $1.67 million grant from the American Heart Association (AHA) through its newly launched Cardiac Arrest Research Team (CART) Network, an international initiative designed to accelerate research that improves survival and recovery after cardiac arrest.

Dr. Moskowitz will lead the Vasopressor Strategy in Cardiac Arrest to Optimize Recovery–Cardiac Arrest Research Team (VICTORY-CART), a four-year multicenter study that will compare two commonly used blood pressure medications administered after cardiac arrest to determine which leads to better survival and neurological recovery. The research will also examine how these therapies are used across hospitals to identify opportunities for more consistent, evidence-based care and establish a learning health system framework to improve post-cardiac arrest treatment. Dr. Moskowitz is also medical intensive care unit director at Montefiore.

The CART Network is the AHA’s first research initiative dedicated exclusively to advancing cardiac arrest science through large, multidisciplinary collaborations. Developed in partnership with the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada, the network supports innovative studies spanning cardiac arrest detection, treatment, and recovery, with the goal of rapidly translating research findings into clinical practice.

VICTORY-CART is a collaboration among Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Health System, Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and the University of Washington.
