Bronx, NY – Montefiore Einstein Orthopedic Surgery is proud to announce the addition of two distinguished surgeons to its faculty: Daniel Berman, MD, orthopedic spine surgeon, and Anna Cooper, MD, MPH, orthopedic oncologist. Their expertise further strengthens Montefiore Einstein’s commitment to delivering world-class, patient-centered orthopedic care and advancing research that improves health outcomes in diverse communities.

Daniel Berman, MD joins Montefiore Einstein as an attending orthopedic spine surgeon and Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Berman specializes in minimally invasive endoscopic spine surgery as well as complex adult spinal deformity and revision operations. His research is focused on improving outcomes by finding less invasive ways to treat both common and complex spinal conditions, particularly in underserved populations.

A proud Cornell University graduate, Dr. Berman earned his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his residency training in orthopedic surgery at Montefiore Einstein and pursued a fellowship in orthopedic spine surgery at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Dr. Berman is a member of the North American Spine Society, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and AO Spine.

“Montefiore Einstein has always been a place that combines cutting-edge medicine with a deep commitment to the community,” said Dr. Berman. “I am honored to return and continue advancing spine surgery in ways that make care less invasive and more accessible for all patients.”

Anna Cooper, MD, MPH FAAOS FAOA joins as an orthopedic oncologist and Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery. She completed her medical degree at University of Rochester as an inductee to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society with Distinction in Research and Community Service.  She also earned a Master’s in Public Health and completed her residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Rochester. Dr. Cooper then completed a fellowship in Musculoskeletal Oncology at the University of Florida.

Dr. Cooper’s research focuses on patient-reported outcomes in orthopedic oncology and the impact of frailty on surgical outcomes. She is an active member of the Musculoskeletal Tumor Society, the American Orthopaedic Association, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the New York State Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

“Joining Montefiore Einstein gives me the opportunity to care for patients facing some of the most complex orthopedic conditions while also advancing research that can improve surgical outcomes for all patients,” said Dr. Cooper. “I am excited to collaborate with colleagues who share a passion for innovation, excellence, and service.”

With these additions, Montefiore Einstein Orthopedic Surgery continues to expand its clinical expertise and research leadership, strengthening its position as a national leader in orthopedic innovation and compassionate care.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Berman and Dr. Cooper to our department,” said Dr. Neil Cobelli, Department Chair. “Their skill, innovation, and commitment to advancing orthopedic care will have a profound impact on our patients, our trainees, and the broader field of orthopedics.”
