On May 17, 2024, the RFK IDDRC, with the support of the Children’s Evaluation and Rehabilitation Center (CERC), the University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD), and the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) program, hosted its second annual RFK Day, bringing together researchers, clinicians, and advocates to advance understanding and support for individuals with autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities. Held in the Price Center/Block Pavillion and virtually via Zoom, the event showcased the center's ongoing commitment to research, education, and advocacy in this critical field.

The afternoon began with a warm welcome and introduction by Sophie Molholm, PhD, director of the RFK IDDRC and Dr. Elisa Muniz, director of the Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics Fellowship Program at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, highlighting the center's legacy since 1970 as a leader in federally-supported programs addressing neurodevelopmental challenges. The keynote presentation by Shafali Jeste, M.D., "Precision Health in Neurodevelopmental Disorders: Baby Steps to Breakthroughs," captivated the audience by exploring groundbreaking approaches to personalized care in neurodevelopmental health.

An interdisciplinary panel discussion followed, fostering dynamic dialogue on collaborative strategies to translate research into impactful care and advocacy. The day concluded with a vibrant poster session and reception on Main Street, where participants engaged with innovative projects from across the IDDRC, CERC, LEND, and UCEDD programs.

RFK Day serves as a testament to the center's dedication to improving lives through collaboration, innovation, and education.
