Jennifer Garner Appointed Senior Associate Dean for Operations and Finance at Albert Einstein College of Medicine

September 20, 2023—(BRONX, NY)—Jennifer Garner, M.S.W., the current unified administrator and senior director in the department of medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Health System, has been named senior associate dean for operations and finance at Einstein, effective October 2, 2023.

“Ms. Garner brings 23 years of experience in finance and operations and a track record of successful strategic planning to this role,” said Yaron Tomer, M.D., Incoming Marilyn and Stanley M. Katz Dean at Einstein and chair of the department of medicine. “In her new capacity, she will help to establish and assess priorities involving the College of Medicine’s overall operations and budgetary resources to ensure that planning, action, and measures of success are properly aligned to advance Einstein’s mission.”

Prior to assuming this new position, Ms. Garner has overseen the financial and operational integrity of the department of medicine’s $84 million clinical budget and $66 million research budget. She worked closely with Dr. Tomer in spearheading strategic planning efforts and in implementing innovative programs that led to substantial annual increases in both departmental revenue and in provider clinical productivity. Additionally, she headed a highly skilled leadership team responsible for all administrative and financial operations within the medicine department, encompassing each of its 14 divisions.

In her new capacity, she will help to establish and assess priorities involving the College of Medicine’s overall operations and budgetary resources to ensure that planning, action, and measures of success are properly aligned to advance Einstein’s mission.

Ms. Garner’s prior roles include administrator of the division of endocrinology, diabetes, and bone disease at Mount Sinai Health System and operations director at the Hospital Medicine Group in Baton Rouge, LA. Both roles required dedication to financial proficiency, operational streamlining, and strategic leadership within the healthcare sector. Her expertise encompasses effective management of faculty and staff, meticulous budgeting, grant allocation, fostering operational efficiency, and using data-driven strategies to optimize revenue and resource allocation.

Ms. Garner earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Southern Mississippi and a master’s degree in social work at Louisiana State University.
