Dr. Gregg Tarquinio Named Associate Dean for Administration and Finance at Albert Einstein College of Medicine

September 12, 2018—(BRONX, NY)—Accomplished academic medicine leader Gregg T. Tarquinio, Ph.D., M.B.A., C.P.A., has been appointed associate dean for administration and finance at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He assumes his new role today.

“Gregg’s history of success in the complex environment of academic medicine and research-intensive medical schools makes him the ideal candidate to take the helm at Einstein and we are very fortunate that he is joining us,” said Gordon F. Tomaselli, M.D., the Marilyn and Stanley M. Katz Dean at Einstein. “We look forward to the fresh perspective he will bring to Einstein, particularly in light of our integration with Montefiore.”

Dr. Tarquinio’s expertise is in the field of medical center effectiveness and performance-based compensation. Prior to joining Einstein, he was vice dean of administration, with a faculty appointment at Loyola University Chicago’s Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, Illinois and held an adjunct faculty appointment at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. He also founded, MedCenterDisplay, a healthcare firm that provides hospitals with support for patient engagement and satisfaction.

For nearly 12 years, Dr. Tarquinio was the vice-chair of medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, acting as principal business officer of all administrative and financial functions. During his tenure, the university medical center quadrupled its grants from the National Institutes of Health, moving from 24th to sixth nationally.

Prior to joining Vanderbilt, Dr. Tarquinio was chief financial officer at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He has also worked for large consulting firms, ECG Management Consultants and Deloitte. In those roles, his clients included Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, the University of Maryland, Emory University Medical Center, the University of Rochester Medical Center, and many other healthcare organizations.

Dr. Tarquinio earned his B.A. in accounting from Belmont Abbey College in North Carolina, his M.B.A.  in business administration from the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, and his Ph.D. in health systems management from the University of Iowa.
