May 16, 2017
May 16, 2017—(BRONX, NY)—Today, Einstein’s Women’s Division hosted its 63rd annual Spirit of Achievement Luncheon at the Rainbow Room in Manhattan. The annual philanthropic event will support comprehensive health care for women through research, discovery and teaching as well as providing specialty care for all women in the diverse communities served by Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the Montefiore Health System.
The honorees included American television chef, author and humanitarian Sandra Lee, former Einstein-Montefiore faculty member Luz Towns-Miranda, Ph.D., and Alyson Moadel-Robblee, Ph.D., professor of clinical epidemiology & population health at Einstein and director of the Psychosocial Oncology Program at the Montefiore Einstein Center for Cancer Care (MECCC).
Dr. Moadel-Robblee, who was the subject of a video profile shown at the event, is also the founding director of the Bronx Oncology Living Daily (BOLD) Program and co-director of the Integrative Oncology Program at MECCC. As a health psychologist, Dr. Moadel applies a career in research, teaching and counseling to her interest in the psychological, social and cultural factors associated with coping with cancer.
Jill Martin, a contributor to NBC’s Today and a past Spirit honoree, served as the event’s emcee. Women’s Division co-presidents Terri Goldberg and Trudy Schlachter spearheaded the event with their luncheon co-chairs Carol Roaman and Andrea Stark.
