About
Alan T. Schultz, MSN, RN, CPNP, is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in the Pediatric Emergency Department at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore. He evaluates and treats acutely ill children. In addition to caring for patients, he is also part of the Pediatric Emergency Department Follow-Up Team. The Follow-Up Team monitors laboratory and radiology results of patients after they have been discharged. Mr. Schultz reaches out to families to ensure they continue to receive care and improve after being evaluated in the Emergency Department. Mr. Schultz believes in treating not only the diagnosis but the entire patient and family. He strives to empower and educate families to improve the lives of children.
Mr. Schultz also has a background in pediatric diabetes. He has published numerous articles on the use of technology in the management of type 1 diabetes. Mr. Schultz serves as an On-Site Medical Provider at Clara Barton Center for Diabetes Education, an overnight camp for children with type 1 diabetes. He has spoken at several conferences for educating school nurses on the management of type 1 diabetes.
Before coming to Montefiore Einstein, Mr. Schultz was a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at Joslin Diabetes Center. He earned his Bachelor of Science in human physiology at Boston University, followed by his Bachelor of Science in nursing at Columbia University. Mr. Schultz remained at Columbia University and earned his Master of Science in Nursing with a specialty in pediatric primary care. He is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner by the National Pediatric Nursing Certification Board.
